We are delighted to share that OMK Lewis Pugh (Mount House, 1978–1980) will be this year’s guest speaker.
Lewis has led an extraordinary life as an endurance swimmer and ocean advocate. For nearly forty years, he has pioneered swims in some of the world’s most fragile environments, from the North Pole to Antarctica, and from the Himalayas to some of the great rivers of the world.
He was the first person to complete a long-distance swim in every ocean. But these swims are not simply about endurance. Each one has a purpose: to draw attention to places under threat, and to help protect them. Through his work, more than 3.5 million square kilometres of vulnerable ocean have now been safeguarded, an area larger than Western Europe.
In 2013, the United Nations Environment Programme appointed Lewis as UN Patron of the Oceans. His role is to speak for the world’s oceans and the wildlife that depend on them.
We very much look forward to welcoming him back and hope that you will join us.
