Painting Generations

Aiya with George
Aiya with George

George Richards is Mount Kelly's longest serving member of staff. He began working at the School in November 1979 after seeing an advert in the Tavistock Times to help with some painting jobs, originally hoping to earn some money in order to be independent.  He didn't expect to stay long at all, but over time felt that Kelly was a nice place to be and has continued working here for what will be 45 years this November!  George is now on his seventh Head Master; Dennis Ball was the first.  Since then, generations of pupils and staff have passed through.  Whilst I was speaking with George, he reflected on how many OMKs he must have seen come back over the years (he has lost track!). George also mentioned that he has painted every building inside and out numerous times! He finds the School "a lovely place to work". We are very lucky to have such a dedicated member of staff and are appreciative of all the work George has put in to maintaining the School over the years.
