The beautiful Devon countryside shone in the sunlight for the OMK weekend which began on Friday evening with a Retrospective of the artwork of Hugh Davies, former Head of Art from 1970 until 1991. Judith Davies and her son, Robin, brought a wonderful collection of Hugh's work from across the years and all who gathered enjoyed a glimpse into the fruits of his travels throughout Britain and Europe. John Woodman (OMK 1969-1974) officially opened the event and gave a heartfelt introduction to the man he knew as an artist and teacher. John Killingbeck (Former Staff 1964-1986) was a perfect host, ensuring that all guests were happy and not without a drink. (Click for art exhibition photos)
OMK Day began in the glorious sunshine the next day with the OMK Golf at the Tavistock Golf Club where 19 of our alumni gathered for a very jolly (though competitive!) tournament. Prizes were awarded as follows - Team Prize 1st: Lyndsey Alexander, David Alexander, Andy Jameson; 2nd place: Howard Davies, Nigel Moore, Hugh Myott; Individual TGC member: 1st Nikki Ormond, 2nd Chris Anthony; Individual visitor: 1st Andy Jameson, 2nd Ben Staig; Nearest the flag: Andy Jameson and Nikki Ormond; One two: Howard Davies (Click for golf photos)
Meanwhile, the OMK Cricketers met back at the College where they took on the MK 1sts and many OMKs gathered to watch and to have tours of the College and the Prep for a little walk down memory lane (scroll below for photos of the day). We all stopped for a scrumptious tea on the pavilion lawn and enjoyed catching up with alumni and staff from across the decades. (Click for cricket photos)
The MK side finished victorious and then it was a quick change into our finery for the evening which began with Evensong in Chapel led by Reverend Andrew Corness (OMK 1985-1987). We sang our hymns with gusto (at the Head Master's instruction) and honoured those we have lost since 2019, which was the last time we had gathered in such a way before the pandemic, and a plaque was dedicated in the memory of John Mann (Former Staff 1955-1993) in front of his family. We all then moved on to the library for drinks before going up to Big School for dinner. Paul Schick (OMK 1981-983) spoke following the Head Master and gave a very personal and thoughtful account of how his school experiences changed and influenced his life. (Click for dinner photos)
