Peter Martin celebrated his eighty-ninth birthday on 8 September 2022, the same day that HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away. He took part in Her Majesty's Coronation with the Royal Air Force in London in 1953, aged 19, and then had the honour, together with his wife, Lisa, of being given VIP seats in a service of commemoration in Helsinki Cathedral the week following the death of HM the Queen.
Peter has served three monarchs: King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, and now King Charles III. He has held the position of Honorary Secretary of Her Majesty's Armed Forces Veterans in Finland (now His Majesty's) for the last six years. Peter managed a freelance teaching and consultancy business in Finland for fifty-three years. He also taught at schools and institutions in Sweden for five years. He retired in 2015 aged 81.
