Alumni News |
In November, Mount Kelly launched a Pen Pal scheme between our College pupils and Old Mount Kelleians. Over 20 of our pupils (aged 13-18) have linked up to correspond with some of our more senior alumni living in the UK and overseas; mostly via email but some of them are using good old-fashioned post!
Pupils are very much enjoying finding out what school (Mount House and Kelly College) was like 'back in the day' and are interested to learn about their Pen Pals’ careers and adventures. The pupils are also enjoying sharing their own news and stories about what it's like to be a teen today. There is definitely lots to say on both sides and some great connections and new friendships are being forged.
Due to Covid restrictions, pupils are unable to do most of the usual activities for their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering qualification (such as litter collecting, working in charity shops, visiting care homes) and taking part in this scheme is enabling them to fulfil this part of their DofE award. Thank you to the 20+ OMKs (from Mount House and Kelly College) who are taking part.
Lest we forget: in memory of Nigel Duncan Hunter 1894-1918 More...
