What was the best bit about your time at School?
Choosing one bit is certainly a Herculean task! I have fond memories of my A-levels and studying with my classmates, but I particularly enjoyed the larger events like the House singing competition and Sports Day. I also loved being a part of the school’s drama productions and completing my LAMDA award as they helped grow my confidence.
Best bit about your time at University/Internship:
University was where I think I came into my own. I noticed immediately that Mount Kelly had set me up for success, as I was disciplined enough to study, live on my own, and also have a great time! I did have a lot of fun at University, from leading the History society, to running a bar in my house (don’t tell anyone I told you that), it was a blast!
Tell us something about you that nobody knows?
That’s a tricky one… Well, there’s a book somewhere in the library with a note from me and my friends giving new students advice on how to survive at Mount Kelly! I wonder if it's still there…
Can you think of three things you learnt at Mount Kelly which have been useful to you in your career?
Public speaking, the discipline to work, and a creative mindset.
Sum up your business/job?
Granum Marketing is a creative marketing agency that helps businesses create engaging and efficient marketing campaigns to drive business. This ranges from working on campaigns, creating social content, developing PPC strategies, and ensuring that businesses are the first-thought for their customers! Alongside this, I am working on Fabul, which is an independent and quality film streaming platform. We currently are in the process of obtaining funding, with heavy interest from BIFA.
How did you get into your industry in the first place?
I ended up doing some work experience at Vanguard in the Marketing sector, and I instantly fell in love with the industry. This ultimately led me to pursue a MSc in the field and has led me to where I am today.
What is the most important decision you have had to make in your career and how did you come to it?
Another tricky question! I think the most important decision was to start my own business. After working for a variety of businesses and leading several marketing departments, I saw the opportunity to create my own agency, and I haven’t looked back since.
Name one thing most people in your industry should be doing but aren't.
This is a question I get asked a lot, and I think there’s one clear answer: taking time to think. In a world where everything moves so fast, it’s easy for people in marketing to just ‘do’ rather than stopping to think why. This often leads to poor marketing campaigns and creatives that don’t land, as people don’t have the discipline to really understand their messaging and efforts. It’s something I also believe is important in everyday life!
Name a business or a brand that you really admire and why?
There are too many to choose from! I think there are some awesome brands out there, but there are many companies I am inspired by due to their dedication. One of them being Hello Games, where after an unsuccessful product launch, they dedicated themselves to developing and enhancing their product for no fiscal benefit. In the long-term this paid off as the number of users sky-rocketed!
How do you find/recruit your customers?
I outreach through LinkedIn, however I have really relied on word of mouth following my successes with clients.
Any Top Tips for finding your Top Job:
Throw yourself at it! It’s hard but you need to get stuck in and think of new ways to message customers.
