It was a pleasure to welcome back to the College Simon Aylett (1977-80) who is reaching the end of his epic 4,500-mile sponsored e-bike ride following the British coastline. Accompanied on this visit by Anne Williams (former staff 1970-95), and contmeporaries Jon Notley (1975-1980) and Sarah Cooper (1979-81), Simon enjoyed visiting Newton House and other 'Kelly haunts'.
Suffering from cancer Simon was told in 2017 that he had 12 months to live, so he embarked on an extraordinary e-bike ride from the UK to Sicily, covering 2,000 miles and raising £40k for Prostate Cancer UK.
At the beginning of 2020, just as Covid 19 was appearing in the UK, Simon was accepted onto a phase 1 drug trial at The Royal Masrden Hospital's Drug Development unit in Sutton, Surrey. The trial is proving a success, so in May, Simon set off on another big ebike adventure, towing his home-made aluminium caravan. This time raising funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to help them research and trial new ways of fighting all cancers.
